Hi

The answer is both complicated, and simple
... depending on if you are the consumer or the software developer.

The BCD436HP is a 3rd generation "Home Patrol". Unlike ALL the other Uniden scanners, it uses a SD Memory card to store virtually everything "programmable" for the radio. The frequency data is "owned" by Radio Reference, and THEY forced a proprietary agreement with Uniden to exclusive use of their data (by Uniden)

In order to obtain the "protocol" for creating software support for Uniden's Home Patrol units WE were obligated to sign an agreement. Part of that agreement was to prohibit transfer of frequency information from the HP unit's SD card for use with different model scanners.

While we personally feel this is unfair, there is little we can do, as to be provided protocol by Uniden we also have to adhere to the license we signed.

1 - Transfer FROM a Home Patrol to any other dissimilar model isn't possible because of the "license"

2 - TECHNICALLY -Transfer isn't possible FROM a Home Patrol to a dissimilar scanner because the HP unit is programmed by accessing the SD card as a "removable storage device", NOT  through the comports like all other models

HOWEVER ...
It IS possible to use a RSD file from the BCD996P2 to send TO the HP, but not the other way around. Watch video tutorial #10 to see how to do "this"
    http://www.scancat.com/pages/video10.html

We DO provide access to Radio Ref's data from their website, (and no RR membership is required) so if you create programming for the NON Home Patrol unit first, then you can use "that" to also program the BCD436HP.

I hope this helps

Hi, again........I have a BCD436HP and would like to transfer the content, frequencies, to my BCD996P2. I can not seem to get the radio to transfer from one to the other. Is there a tutorial on this exchange. I was able to load frequencies into my 996. but want more like what is in the 436. Please let me know or at least how if I can do it.    Thanks Marcus
